let there be light!

They are by no means great photos, but I did get a little chance to play today. Really little. I was still having trouble getting the lights to fire, (which we finally put down to a faulty lead) and DH bought home an adaptor that I needed. So the photo of Ethan was taken today, he had a window on the left, and the softbox on his right as a bit of a fill, but the window was a nice white light, the softbox has put a yellow cast on that side of his head. He looked so cute though I had to include it, and if I change it to B&W you can't tell, but I loved the red hoodie! I'm also really happy with my new black backdrop. Works a treat! I popped Ethan on there, and he kept dancing around bobbing up and down. Cheeky thing. He is also not well today, has a yucky head cold :( Just as I was getting into bed last night he started crying and was all blocked up. Popped on the vaporiser and gave him a tiny bottle with some dimatap in it, which he drank even though he was still pretty much asleep. From then on he slept soundly all night. Now I've got him on zinc and Liam too, so it should go pretty fast. Hopefully.

Now this is my little poser! The kid who hates having his photo taken, threw himself on the backdrop insisting "take my photo! take my photo!" LOL. This was at night, so totally the new lights. At the left is an umbrella at low power for fill, and at the right the softbox... which will now fire! :) Also FULLY manual. I always shoot in apeture mode, so full manual is new to me, but once the settings are worked out it's a babe to work with. The colour was spot on in this photo, but I desaturated and added a sepia colour balance as he is in red jamies, sitting in a red beanbag, and being the fair little thing he is, red just washes him out. I also 'roughly' removed the milo moustache... you can tell if you look closely. Notice the scar on his eye. 10 minutes into our housewarming party (about 120 guests!) Liam came crying down the hallway with blood gushing. He had gotten all excited as people started arriving and tried to climb up onto our bed to jump on it, but in his haste missed and hit his head on the bedside table. So lucky it wasn't actually his eye! You can bet the rest of the party was a ball LOL.

We had speech this morning and Jenni is very happy with his progress. She said she can tell I've been working hard with him, and I have, so that is good. He is putting k into sentences a lot these days on his own, although not all the time. When I do pull him up he has no trouble pronouncing it on most words. 'christmas' is a hard one, but it has a lot of sounds in it anyway. G is comming and F which we have been really working on for the past fortnight is really kicking in now. That has been quite a hard one for him. He loves going there. He has his little bag with his scrapbook/workbook and all his bits and pieces hanging from the kitchen door. (It reminds me to play the games with him everyday) and he gets so excited when I tell him to grab it as it's time to go to speech. He thinks he just goes there to play. She is such a wonderful therapist (... OMGosh, my son goes to therapy! LOL) Actually I think she's technically a speech pathologist.

Anyway enough waffle for tonight. Time for bed. That dredded alarm will be going off again before I know it!
