Ethan's THRID birthday party

Bit late as usual. I've had some posts sitting in draft form, waiting for the piccies...

Sunday 3rd February we had Ethan's birthday party. He had a fantastic day. We didn't do a HUGE party like we usually do, just maily family. But still ended up with about 30 people. I wanted to buy a pinata as the kids had so much fun with the one mum bought for Christmas day. When I went to the party shop to get one, they were $50, and it was just a box, with tissue paper and a print out on it. You still have to fill it. So I decided to cheap it and make my own. Now I know you can make them from paper mache, but come one people, I don't even have time to keep my blog up to date, so the chances of finding time to do that? Let's not even go there. However, I did rummage up a box, some colouring sheets downloaded from the net, a little touch of photoshop to colour them in, and some scraps of scrapping paper and we were pretty much done. Just a cable tie and bit of rope and of course a ton of lollies and we were good to go. All up took less than 10 mins to put together. (seriously, I remembered to do it about 15 minutes before the party started!)

I did the cakes similar to the Elmo/Cookie Monster trial I did a few weeks ago, but decided to add in Oscar and Big Bird. I thought for sure Elmo would be the first to go, but it seems Oscar was most popular.

Ethy got all shy when we were singing happy birthday and snuggled into me. There you go Nattie, a pic of me. Two even. Top two are me and the Ethy bug, obviously. Bottom left is Brett and Amanda (you last saw Amanda in her wedding dress in October), and right side is Brett and my sister.

Someone asked how I got the cakes so bright... LOTS of food colouring.

So my baby boy is three :) Such a gorgeous little thing he is.

I've had lots of questions about lots of stuff too, and get emailed the same questions quite a bit, so I'll start adding some answers here very soon. I have two more drafted posts and then I'll the the Q&A, so if you want to ask anything leave me a comment or email. (And yes, how I get the colour in my pics is one of them ;) )

Wow Katie your cupcakes are awesome. So bright, and what a novel way to make a pinata - must remember that one myself - the paper machie way is real messy.
