Something is brewing

Now here's a pic that sums up last night & today. Just as I was finishing up my post last night Ethan woke and was grizzling, which is unusual. I went down to settle him, but he was as hot as a little coal. [I knew he wasn't right!] I know the medical view now is to let children ride out temperatures, but when Liam was the same age he had a febrile convulsion and stopped breathing. The images of my baby, blue, in my husbands arms will be burnt into my memory for the rest of my life I am sure, and it's something I obviously never want to see again. So when our children have temperatures we act on it straight away. He was 40 degress (in his ear) which is 41 really. We stripped him and gave him panadol, which he then threw up all over me; so I drew the card to have the luke warm shower. After another dose of Nurifen, I pulled up the rocking chair to his bedside and there we sat, rocked, rubbed, soothed, sang, kissed, cuddled and snoozed in the breeze of the fan. Finally he slept. This morning I went in to find him just as hot... [repeat it all]. Thankfully he has slept most of today, and thank goodness tomorrow is a holiday and I don't have to go to work. As yet, I'm not sure what it is, but something is brewing.

I hope you all had a good weekend - yay! It's not over! I'm off to snooze while Ethan does.

Oh poor Ethan. You thought he was coming down with something, didn't you. And poor you. I hope he has a speedy recovery. That must have been just terrifying to have Liam stop breathing.

OHH Katie,
I sure hope your Bub's is OK. It is so upsetting and scary when they are sick. I have had many Ambulance rides with Harrison when he has stopped breathing. I do know where you are coming from.. I must say however whenever my kids have temps, I also get out the Panadol. Both my kids cant have Nurofen because they have Asthma. I also found they threw up the Nurofen when the temps were high as well.. If you are concerned tonight ring the Hospital they are always great on the phone....

Take care

Hopefully Ethan will be better soon. We had a febrile convulsion episode with Emma while holidaying in QLD. It was the most terrifying night of my life, and I will NEVER let one of my kids ride out a temp again. panadol didn't work for her that night, but the hospital gave her Nurofen, and that bought her temp down quickly. Just rest when you can, and I hope for a speedy recovery for you.. xx

Oh Katie! Hope you are having a better night tonight. High temperatures are really scary even when you haven't had the experience you did with Liam so I'm not suprised you sat by his cot last night. (Hugs) and please post tomorrow to let us know how he's doing.

Katie...........hope you had a better night with Ethan! High temps are scarey things. We had a bad experience with Tim when he was about 9 months(now nearly 23).
HE WENT BLUE AND MY HUBBY LITERALLY THROUGH HIM IN THE AIR AND CAUGHT HIM AND THAT STARTED HIM BREATHING AGAIN.SOUNDS harse but hey it worked.Mind you he only htrew him gently and only about a foot in the air.

Katie........you have been producing some lovely work as usual lately. Well done!

Katie, it is scary when little ones are sick, especially yesterday, being so hot too. Poor darling, Ethan has been through a rough trot lately.
I love your layout of Ethan, it's really cute!
