On the mend

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and emails. It's comforting and reassuring to hear your stories. Sarah, you're little boy sounds scarey! My little chooken still didn't have a great night. We thought he was over theworst, then the fever shot back up again. He's still not all that happy, but hopefully we are over the worst. We tag-teamed it all night then I handed him over to Brett at 7.30 and headed back to bed. I slept like a baby until around 10.30 when he woke me with bacon & eggs in bed... Now THAT's a hubby :) We decided to get out of the house for a while, so we went for a drive around Red Hill. We went and had a look at a palm plantation. Brett wants a (huge) palm tree at the front of our house... at a minimum of $5,000 for one tree, I'm a bit more reserved! I might not be, if our house was actually finished! LOL Anyway, he can dream. We popped in to visit Brett's uncle in Bittern, then his sister in Hastings, who is due to have a baby in May. Then a quick visit to Nanna & Poppy in Somerville. Then home. A big loop. It was nice just to get out of the house.

I sat down to watch Desperate Housewives tonight with DH. I don't watch much TV really, but I have to watch "my girls". I can't just sit still and veg though, so I whipped out this little layout. I did run back and forth to the study during the adds to sew though. I didn't have enought letters so I used the 'negatives' from the HS sheet to cut my own from some scraps of chipboard, and covered them with more BG. It was a quick layout until I got to that bit! As you can tell I have a bit of a thing for sewing, and I have black cotton on my machine.

A little bit of behind the scenes for this layout:
My six year old neighbour Sarah LOVES Ethan. Over Christmas they went on holidays to QLD, and each of the children were given $50 to spend while they were away. They could spend it on what ever they wanted, but once it was gone there was no more. Sarah's brother and sister spent theirs, but on the last day Sarah still had hers. She didn't want anything for herself, all she wanted was to buy Liam and Ethan a present. She and her mum traped all through the markets, through all the shops until finally Sarah found a projector torch for Liam, and this giraffe for Ethan. We named him Genesis Giraffe (Gennie). I am amazed at the generosity of that little girl. Six years old, and so ready to sacrifice her own desires to bring happiness to her friends. That's what I call a heart of gold.
