Even superheros have bad days :(

I had every intention of blogging last night. I had a good day. Well Ethan did decide to wake up at 5.30am and not go back to sleep. I left him in his cot, yelling out though till 6.00. That's my rule - before 6.00am it's still night time! I'm loving that it's school holidays and we didn't have to go to speech or kinder. No getting everyone in and out of the car multiple times. Got lots of housework done in the morning. Even Liam helped clean his room and pack up his toys from the family room. I did tell him I was going to vacuum when the timer beeped, and his toys would get sucked up if they were still on the floor. We made it a race to tidy up before the timer beeped.

In the afternoon Jess, Paul, Ethan and Angus came to have some photos taken. We didn't manage to get outside. It was very windy. Got some good shots - Jess came all prepard with her Christmas card plan, so we could take the right photos. Clever, organised girl there. She also brought along the signed copy of Cathy Z's book I won at the last Scrapanalia retreat.

Liam and (Jess') big Ethan, had a ball playing together. They just get along so well. Both are normally quite shy boys, and they don't see each other all that often, maybe only twice a year, but from the second the door opens, they just fit together beautifully, and have such a great time playing. It was nice to see (my) little Ethan and Angus having a little play too. Now that they are getting a bit older, and more active they found delight in similar things. The bikes, the mud and the trampoline just to mention a few.

After they'd all packed up and started their long drive home, we did the dinner thing. Brett was home and they boys were just having a little play while I checked my emails and Brett started to run the bath, before comming up to the study to ask me something. The next minute we heard a scream - then silence - then hysterical blood curdling screaming. Both Brett and I bolted from one end of the house to the other, bouncing off the walls as we tried to navigate the corners at high speed. Liam had tried to somersault from the couch to the beanbag, but unfortunatly missed the bean bag and crashed head first onto the concrete floor. Between his screams we managed to decifer "my ear". We inspected it, and found a bit of a red patch, but told him it was OK. As I was comforting him I ran my hand over the back of his head and felt they HUGEST lump I have ever felt or seen. It stood at least 2cm up and was just getting bigger my the minute and we could see it was bleeding a little under the skin. He was saying his neck was stiff, and was groggy, so I took him straight to the hospital to get him checked out. We arrived at the hospital at 7pm - visiting hours! Had to park the car MILES away, and carry him on one arm, while holding the icepack to his head with the other. He is small and light for his age, but it still nearly killed me LOL.

The doctor that was on, was just lovely. He told me some of the things he'd got up to as a 'superhero' and also similar things his kids had done too. So I'm definatly not alone! He gave him a good checking over, told me what else to keep an eye on, and told Liam he'd live to fight on another day for truth and justice LOL

We emerged from the hospital two hours later, to find it was pooring with rain, and had to do the big dash all the way across a now empty carpark. Finally made it home, packed the bags, tidied up a little and keeled over into bed!

OUCH!!poor little man.
My two boys have both done the same thing, Jamie had an lump the size of an egg on his forehead after colliding head on with the corner of the door, it was sickening to see, I could actually see it growing bigger while I was holding him.
Glad to hear he is okay though.
